Marketing Coordinator

Requirements:

This position is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program. All participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be between the ages of 15-30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (International Students are not eligible); and
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.

The Marketing Coordinator (MC) will combine a passion for music with storytelling and strategic marketing skills to work with the Marketing team to support both the KSO & KSO Music School (KSMS) to help promote the activities and work of the Artistic team and KSMS faculty. The MC will report directly to the Executive Director of the KSO & KSMS to assist with the following responsibilities and tasks:

Responsibilities

Content Creation:

  • Develop engaging and creative content for marketing materials, including social media posts, email and print newsletters, and the organization's website. This may include photography, video, audio, and other media formats.
  • Ensure content aligns with the organization's brand and effectively communicates key messages.

Social Media Management:

  • Assist in managing and growing the presence of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra (KSO) and KSO Music School (KSMS) on social media platforms.
  • Create and schedule posts to promote events, educational programs, and organizational achievements.
  • Monitor social media engagement and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.

Event Promotion:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement promotional campaigns for concerts, educational programs, and other events.
  • Coordinate the creation and distribution of promotional materials, both digital and print.

Community Outreach:

  • Engage with the local community to build relationships and promote the organization's mission.
  • Represent the KSO and KSMS at community events to increase awareness and foster community connections.

Graphic Design Support:

  • Assist in creating visually appealing graphics for promotional materials, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and design team to maintain a consistent and professional visual identity.

Data Management:

  • Support the maintenance and updating of the organization's contact database.
  • Track and analyze marketing metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of promotional campaigns.

Tasks

  • Assist with the promotion of the remaining KSO 2023/24 concerts.
  • Assist with the promotion of KSMS summer programs including string and piano camps.
  • Assist with the KSO's annual subscription campaign for the 2024/25 season.
  • Create and/or compile materials that will support marketing efforts through the KSO and KSMS' 2024/25 season.
  • Other marketing-related tasks as required.
