Graphic Design Lead & Communications Specialist

The Arbutus Club, one of Canada's finest private family clubs, is looking for a highly creative and experienced GRAPHIC DESIGN LEAD & COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST to join our team. This is a full-time position within our Communications Department.

As the Graphic Design Lead and Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for creating concepts, designs, and layouts for a variety of print and digital projects. You will be expected to work closely with the Director of Strategy and Communications, department managers, and other designer(s) to effectively communicate the Club's messaging and goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio of work that demonstrates their creative thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work within brand guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities

· Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to execute the Club's marketing and communication strategies, informing members about upcoming events, promotions, facility updates, and other relevant information

· Create engaging and visually appealing designs across multiple platforms in both print and digital, ensuring consistency in messaging and brand standards

· Assist in creating compelling written content for various communication channels, including website and editorial copy, social media updates, and e-newsletters

· Support your fellow designer(s) by providing guidance and feedback when needed, to ensure high-quality design outputs

· Support the production of a seasonal digital recreation programming brochure and a printed quarterly magazine

· Manage the Club's social media accounts, create and schedule posts, monitor engagement, and respond to member inquiries or comments

· Maintain accurate records of all projects from start to finish, including files, revisions, and stakeholder feedback

· Curate content and take photos at special events for publications and online communications, maintaining an organized digital image library for use in various design projects

· Oversee the production process for printed materials, including coordinating with external vendors, ensuring quality control, and managing budgets

· Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of various strategies and campaigns, providing insights for continuous improvement

· Provide member support related to website navigation and email marketing inquiries

Requirements & Qualifications

· Big picture, solution-based thinker with a minimum of 3 years work experience in Graphic Design/Communications

· A minimum of 3 years proven leadership/mentorship experience

· Post-secondary diploma or degree in graphic design, publishing, and/or communications

· Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, with emphasis on Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Acrobat

· Experience in layout design and publishing

· Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Business)

· Fluent in web design (HTML, CSS) and website management

· Strong understanding of how typography, colour, composition, and hierarchy interact to create compelling on-brand design solutions

· Proficiency in written English and experience writing professional communications

· Excellent proofreading and copyrighting skills

· Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and deal with change in a fast-paced environment
