Summary:

BabyGoRound is a Lower Mainland based non profit organization dedicated to serving lowincome and vulnerable families by providing essential baby gear that ensures every child has the necessary items for a safe and healthy start in life. Over the past 12 years, BabyGoRound has supported more than 12,000 families, by collecting gently used baby gear from the community and then working with over 100 referral service agencies to identify the most vulnerable families that need essential support.

BabyGoRound is seeking a dynamic Manager, Communications & Engagement to join our team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies to ensure BabyGoRound has the expanding base of support needed to continue to grow our impact and evolve as an organization.

Overview :

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager, Communications & Engagement will drive BabyGoRound's (BGR) communications and fundraising efforts, including marketing, branding and strategic communications.

As a dynamic relationship builder, our chosen candidate will work to champion BGR's role in a shared and connected community through ongoing and impactful communications, relationship building, and mobilizing our donors and stakeholders to make financial contributions and/or collect gently used gear in support of our mission.

Annual Salary: $58,000-$73,000 for 37.5 hours per week, in a hybrid onsite/remote model.

Job Description:

Our successful candidate will be creative and a self-starter; possessing strong written and oral communications experience along with a broad generalist set of skills to support our fundraising and communications needs.

The Manager, Communications & Engagement will be building upon existing strong relationships and systems, while carrying out a fresh vision for stakeholder engagement, resource development, and marketing communications.

Within this role you will work closely with the BabyGoRound team to facilitate meaningful engagement across the Lower Mainland to meet respective deliverables and achieve maximum impact. Key areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to the following:

1. Communications & Marketing

  • Develops and executes a comprehensive marketing/communications and public relations plan for fund development and to raise brand awareness.
  • Crafts communications and graphics for marketing materials including the annual report, quarterly e-Newsletters, as well as campaign specific collateral.
  • Develops and manages all print and digital marketing strategies and communications activities, including social media, advertising and website.
  • Responsible for the process, from identification to publication, of family impact stories.
  • Captures and/or coordinates ongoing photo and video assets.
  • Seeks and oversees third party events; promotional needs, activations and personnel.
  • Supports all staff with respect to graphic use and branding, key messages and scripting.
  • Manages relationships with external consultants and vendors (photographers, graphic designer, PR and social media consultants).

2. Fundraising

  • Responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the organization's CRM database; maximizing usability for the purpose of stewardship and solicitation.
  • Works with the Executive Director to develop and nurture relationships with key donors.
  • Collaborates on the creation of annual donor stewardship activities and leads implementation of key elements.
  • Provides primary oversight and logistical support of BabyGoRound's signature fundraising event.
  • Provides support in the writing and editing of grant proposals.

3. Internal Stakeholder Support

  • In collaboration with the ED, develops and monitors the progress of the appropriate annual budgets; evaluating ROI on investments and activities.
  • Measures data and outcomes to determine initiative effectiveness; allowing for meaningful evaluation and the identification of areas for improvement or successes.
  • Works closely with existing staff to identify and explore avenues to increase collection of gently used baby gear.
  • Sets an annual Gear Collection Calendar (in collaboration with staff), that works within the broader Editorial Calendar.
  • Provides consultation on a comprehensive volunteer management program; specifically, as it pertains to recruitment campaigns, retention strategies and recognition.
  • Provides support in the BabyGoRound Community Group on Facebook as moderator.
  • Builds stakeholder relations by attending community events as appropriate.

Desired Attributes & Experience:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills with a high degree of motivation, and commitment to continual improvement and growth.
  • Excellent and inspired written communications skills are required. A writing sample may be requested in the interview process.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in PR, communications, marketing or donor relations, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Knowledge and experience using data and donor management software as well as the Microsoft and Google Suites.
  • Post-secondary education in PR, communications, fundraising or event management is an asset.
  • Experience managing volunteers or contractors is an asset.
