The British Columbia Blueberry Council is the provincial organization responsible for the strategic development of the blueberry industry in British Columbia through promotion, industry education, and research.

We are searching for an inventive Marketing and Communications Coordinator to implement effective, exciting marketing initiatives and coordinate internal and external communications.

Primary responsibilities include:

Marketing Activities

- Brand oversight and management, including the development of marketing and communication plans

- Project management, including activity and budget oversight

- Administration of domestic and international promotional files including oversight of B2B and B2C activities (e.g., tradeshows, exhibitions, events)

- Seek, prepare, and submit funding applications and complete necessary reporting

- Develop and maintain relationships with government officials (i.e., Market Access Secretariat, and Consulate Service offices in target markets)

- Develop and maintain relationships with industry decision-makers and related stakeholders

- Develop and maintain relationships with trade media and publications

Communications Activities

- Development of communications materials (e.g., e-newsletters, bulletins, industry backgrounders) for dissemination through various channels including email, online and print

- Develop annual reports and bi-annual Council newsletter for membership

- Coordinate education and engagement events for membership (e.g., field days, workshops, townhalls)

- Development of messaging and communication around key issues and events (including preparation of internal briefings and talking points)

- Responding to media and industry inquiries, ensuring messaging is in line with brand values

- Monitoring and updating the organization's consumer and trade-focused websites, and social media channels (i.e., Instagram and Facebook)

The ideal candidate has advanced skills in:

- Email marketing (Mailchimp)

- Meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)

- Microsoft Office Suite

- Customer relationship management software (CRMs)

- Graphics software (Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud)

- Copywriting

- Report/Grant Writing

- Web Hosting and Management (HTML, WordPress/Drupal, Squarespace)

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Communications, or a degree in a relevant field

- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Marketing and Communications focused role

- Knowledge of web platforms and latest technology/business software

- Exceptional written and oral communication skills

- Must love dogs! (We have an in-house Frenchie...)

Ideal Qualifications

- Experience working in a non-profit organization

- Experience working in Agriculture and the public sector

Compensation

Salary starts at $50,000 per year and benefits.
