This position can be based in either Calgary or Edmonton.
Job Description
Parkinson Association of Alberta (PAA) is looking for a full-time Events & Sponsorship Specialist in the Calgary or Edmonton area. This candidate must have strong communication, fundraising and event management skills, be self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will have an interest in collaborating with a creative and outcome-oriented team with a focus on awareness, fundraising and meaningful impact. Additional skills may include writing for a variety of audiences, graphic design, digital and social media and website management, or the interest in learning these skills to support the goals of the team and organization.
REPORTS TO: Development and Communications Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2 years post-secondary education in communications, fund development or related field; a combination of work experience and education will be considered
- High technical acuity
- Related experience in the non-profit sector
- Excellent communication and strong organizational skills; attention to detail
- Must have a class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to work from home or in-office
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Availability to travel, primarily in-province
- Excellent customer (client, stakeholder) service
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Coordinate and manage logistics for provincial fundraising including vendors, sponsors, volunteers and participant engagement and experience
- Weekly meetings with Development and Communications team (on call, or in person, to be scheduled)
- Work with other departments to relay information to clients and care partners at support groups about events
- Develop and maintain positive community relationships with funders and stakeholders
- Create and implement strategies for event growth to increase public awareness and involvement
- Collaborate with team to promote events, increase attendance, awareness and engagement
- Participate in ongoing evaluation and strategy for effective ongoing fundraising that may include annual giving campaigns, sponsorships and grant applications
- Support team members in stakeholder engagement
- Ability to create, adhere to and track event and other budgets
- Evaluation of events and budgets; identifying and implementing cost-savings
- Recruit, train, support, motivate and steward event volunteers
