To strengthen our marketing team and build our growing market presence in North America, we are looking for Marketing Assistants who are eager to stay connected to scientific research and promote academic publishing services.

The position of Marketing Assistant is a full-time, entry-level, in-office position based in Toronto.

Responsibilities and Main Duties:

  • Strategize, execute, and oversee digital marketing campaigns spanning various social media platforms, email marketing, and display advertising.
  • Conduct thorough research on industry trends and competitor activities to inform and enhance marketing strategies and decision-making procedures.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, optimize campaigns, and generate reports for insight sharing.
  • Collaborate with the journal teams in the Editorial Department to orchestrate marketing initiatives across various journals in North America, including promoting the journals on social media platforms, at academic conferences, or at scholar meetings.
  • Coordinate promotional marketing activities such as author training sessions or workshops at prominent universities and institutions in North America.
  • Provide support for scholar training and facilitate collaboration negotiations with leading universities and institutions in North America.
  • Represent the company at select academic conferences, overseeing booth setup and taking responsibility for on-site operations.
  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with key scholars and academic media outlets in North America.
  • Assist the line manager (marketing manager) and superiors in implementing new marketing initiatives or projects.
  • Address inquiries related to all services offered by MDPI Canada.
  • Provide administrative support in handling databases and logistics involved in client outreach, event planning and management, and promotional activities.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Management, or a related business discipline (Master degree preferred).
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in marketing.
  • Proficiency in Digital Marketing is essential.
  • Outstanding communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic, international setting.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

As a successful candidate, you will receive full training in marketing work, working closely with worldwide colleagues in our marketing department. Training supervised by an assigned tutor will take place on the job during the first six months. Depending on your background, you will be assigned to work on basic marketing projects.
