The Sales Director is an integral part of the Health & Fitness Team. They will play a leadership role in implementing standards of Service Excellence (Priority SAM, including EYE) to ensure the delivery of high quality service to members in all aspects of program delivery. The position requires strong business acumen, sound understanding of sales, marketing and promotions, and retention strategies. The Director is a team leader who displays good communication skills and is service/quality driven.
In this role, you will:
- Adhere to Priority S.A.M. standards and EYE in managing the operations of the Membership Sales and Service unit; monitor and evaluate customer service to potential and existing members
- Recruit, coach, and lead all staff in the unit to deliver friendly and efficient service with a customer insight approach. Ensure that department staff and volunteers are provided with appropriate orientation and training; that they are kept informed through regular communication, meetings etc. and that they are equipped for their roles.
- Successfully develop, monitor, and manage the Membership Sales and Service budgets including new sales and retention targets.
- Manage communication and promotion systems to members and the community at large; maintain positive relations with internal and external suppliers.
- Make decisions and solve problems regarding membership sales and service functions, membership accounts, members concerns, and members' behaviour; Manage Membership Assistance Program.
- Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to fulfill the goals outlined in the annual business plan.
- Provide leadership regarding the Centre's philanthropic initiatives. Understand and believe in the value of philanthropy and impart this belief upon staff, volunteers and members. Responsible for a portion of the campaign as a well as coordination of a special event.
- Work collaboratively with the Health & Fitness Programs Director on the development of all program schedules.
- Perform as an effective Duty Officer and Acting General Manager as required and participate in special task groups, special assignments and opportunities that furthers the association mission, vision and strategic initiatives.
- Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with staff, volunteers and members.

You bring:
- Proven professional with success in a membership sales and service environment
- University degree or college diploma in a related field
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills developed through two to three years supervisory experience including budget experience; ability to encourage and motivate staff and volunteers
- Minimum five years experience in related service field
- Experience in operational start up and demonstrated track record for operational excellence;
- Well developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members including participants, staff and volunteers; excellent written communication skills.
- Attention to detail; excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of Membership System, CLASS, CRM systems, Raiser's Edge, and Priority S.A.M. standards an asset
- Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work, including days, evenings and weekends
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications
- Current WHMIS Certification preferred
