Summary:
Ulnooweg Education Centre (UEC) has partnered with the Joint Economic Development Initiative and the McKenna Institute at UNB on the digital acceleration program. The three organizations in collaboration of this project will be internally referred to as the Tri-Org. Ulnooweg Education Centre seeks a Communications Coordinator to support events and communication activities associated with the Mobile Makerspace Project in New Brunswick. The support this Coordinator provides can range from event coordination, social media and web content planning and cross-promotional marketing.?
Responsibilities:
- Assist planning and coordination of events, ensuring alignment with project goals and milestones.
- Document activities and key moments throughout projects and events for social media and reporting.
- Support the Project team in developing the scope of the projects brand elements and assets.
- Develop communication materials both internally and externally
- Monitor and engage through social media channels, tracking metrics to measure effectiveness.
- Build and develop effective communication practices that focus on Indigenous Communities, funding partners, partner organizations and youth initiatives.
- Collaborate with Communications teams across multiple organization to create consistent messaging and branding across content.
- Provide administrative support as needed, including scheduling meetings and preparing materials for events.
- Attend events, gatherings and meetings on behalf of the Tri-Org
- Act as a liaison across partnered organizations and external stakeholders to foster positive relationships.
- Travel across New Brunswick is required.
Qualifications:
- Understanding and experience of working with diverse knowledge systems. Particularly in the Wolastoqiyik and/or Mi'kmaq concepts.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations, communities and/or youth-serving groups and knowledge-holders.
- Recent graduate from a degree or certificate program in communications, marketing, advertising, digital media, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools such as Canva and Adobe Suite.
- Good understanding of Microsoft 365 tools.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks with shared timelines.
- Enthusiastic about visual storytelling, with experience in photography, videography, or graphic design considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of branding principles and experience in brand development or management is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with wide range of stakeholders.
- Access to vehicle and Class 5 drivers' licence are required.

Project Makerspace is a collaborative project that will empower Indigenous youth across the Atlantic region through the creation of mobile makerspaces that will bring STEAM education directly to communities.
