About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Compliance & Standards to support our mission by leading industry committees, advancing standards and codes initiatives, and facilitating collaboration among members. This role combines project management, stakeholder engagement, and technical/regulatory insight to ensure the Canadian electrical sector remains safe, competitive, and innovative.
Key Responsibilities
- Committee & Section Leadership: Manage several product-based business sections, including meeting facilitation, agendas, reporting, and follow-ups.
- Standards & Codes Representation: Represent members on technical committees and regulatory forums (e.g., CE Code, CSA, SCC, ISED).
- Policy & Advocacy: Monitor and respond to regulatory and standards changes, draft industry position papers, and coordinate input from members.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with members, regulators, and partners, acting as a trusted voice for the industry.
- Project Management: Lead initiatives from conception to completion, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
- Communication: Translate complex technical or policy topics into clear updates, reports, and presentations for diverse audiences.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (marketing, statistics, membership) to deliver value to members.
Qualifications
We welcome candidates from multiple parallel tracks of experience - technical, policy, or stakeholder engagement. Strong candidates will have a blend of:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering, technology, public policy, business, or related field (engineering background an asset but not required).
- 3+ years of relevant experience in standards development, regulatory affairs, industry associations, stakeholder relations, or technical project management.
- Strong facilitation and consensus-building skills in multi-stakeholder settings.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with comfort translating technical/policy issues for varied audiences.
- Project management skills with ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to work independently, show initiative, and manage complex issues with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with electrical products, codes, standards, or regulatory processes is an asset.
