Position Title: Marketing Assistant, Student Type: Temporary Full-time, Non-union Compensation: Minimum wage Hours: approx. 35 hours per week, hours will vary including weekends Effective: May 2026 - September 2026 Vacancy: 1 new vacancy About the Role: Under the direct supervision of the Tourism Officer, the Tourism and Marketing Summer Student will assist with marketing and communications activities that support Elgin County Tourism's efforts to promote local attractions, events, and services. This role includes a variety of tasks, such as digital content creation, visitor engagement, and requires coverage at the Port Stanley Visitor Centre two days a week. A major part of the Tourism Assistant experience includes operating as a goodwill ambassador for Elgin County. In many cases the Tourism and Marketing Assistant will be a tourist's first exposure to the area. Visitors from around the world have signed our guest books and experienced our famous tourist attractions. This is an exciting, customer-oriented position that requires an outgoing and self-motivated personality. Qualifications: Must have a valid Ontario Driver's license with a minimum class G2. Currently enrolled or a recent graduate of post-secondary education. Experience with Canva, social media platforms and website updates. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to engage with the public effectively and work independently. Experience in customer service or public engagement is an asset.
