SALES MANAGER- TEMPORARY POSITION

The Sales Manager is responsible for the day-to-day sales opportunities at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel and builds client relationships through prospecting calls and client meetings. This position is responsible for inputting bookings, proposals, and contracts into the sales/catering system. The Sales Manager must be an effective communicator (both verbally and written) as they are the key contact when providing quotes and contracts to our clients based upon their market segments.

The Sales Manager will be focused on building long-term, value-based relationships allowing us to leverage the varied offerings at our hotel. Additionally, they are responsible for negotiating both group and individual travel rates.

Responsibilities

· Develop relationships with current and new clients

· Uncover and proactively solicit new business opportunities

· Generate leads by contacting and servicing targeted accounts; working with the sales team to maximize leads and coordinate new projects

· Secure business through prospecting, networking, presentations, and sales calls

· Create and implement sales procedures to create an efficient sales process

· Prepares proposals, rate negotiations, block space, processes contracts, and follows up to secure the business

· Manage database with current and accurate account information

· Compile and analyze reports to meet overall goals and objectives

· Understand rates and procedures, as well as the hotel's strategy for various segments

· Participate in relevant trade shows, regional sales activities, and promotional events

· Conduct sites and presentations within the hotel and travel industry

· Build knowledge of related industry and competitive set

· Ability to communicate Marriott programs to promote advantages to clients, as well as understanding internal programs to assist in tracking and in one's own development

· Proactively sell the benefits of each hotel, honing in on client needs

· Assisting the Director of Sales & Marketing in the strategic planning of sales segments

· Some travel required

· Adhere to sales & catering policies and procedures

Qualifications

· Minimum 2 years of sales experience required, preferably in hospitality Food and Beverage knowledge is an asset

· Assertive self-starter with proven developed sales skills including excellent negotiation, prospecting, presentation, and verbal & written communication skills

· Experience in setting and meeting achievement-oriented goals and standards within designated timelines

· Professional, confident, detail-oriented and customer service focused

· Ability to work under pressure, but able to remain flexible in an ever-changing work environment

· Proven time management and organizational skills

· Works well independently as well within a team environment

· Exceptional computer skills with the ability to adapt with ease to various programs
