Executive Director – Canadian Bottled Water Association (CBWA) (Remote / Canada)
The Canadian Bottled Water Association (CBWA) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as its next Executive Director. This is a unique opportunity to guide a well-established national association at a pivotal moment of transition and growth.
For nearly four decades, CBWA has represented Canadian bottled water producers, distributors, and suppliers, promoting bottled water as a safe, healthy, sustainable, and convenient food product. The Association is recognized for its leadership in quality standards, environmental stewardship, and government relations, and continues to play a key role in shaping policy and industry practices across Canada.
As the current Executive Director prepares for retirement after 36 years of dedicated service, CBWA is seeking a successor who can build on this strong legacy while positioning the organization for the future.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the chief operational leader and strategic advisor for the CBWA. The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing CBWA’s mission, managing day-to-day operations, and representing the interests of members at all levels of government and within the public domain.
Salary range: $105,000 plus benefits
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Association
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors
- Lead government relations and advocacy efforts at municipal, provincial, and federal levels
- Act as the official spokesperson for CBWA, including media engagement and public communications
- Oversee financial management, budgeting, and organizational sustainability
- Support and grow membership through recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks and industry standards
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with stakeholders, including members, regulators, and partner organizations
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven leadership experience in a trade association, not-for-profit, or related sector
- Strong background in government relations, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and providing strategic counsel
- Excellent understanding of corporate governance and financial management
- Exceptional communication skills in both English and French
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory and political environments with professionalism and diplomacy
- A collaborative, adaptable, and results-oriented leadership style
Knowledge of the bottled water, beverage, or food sector is considered an asset.
