Head of Marketing
Full-Time / Remote or Hybrid / Canada or US
437 is looking for a Head of Marketing with experience managing and growing marketing departments. This is not a role for someone who needs a fully built team beneath them to do their best work. You will come in as the senior marketing leader, manage a team of direct reports, and personally own the brand function while we build out the team beneath you. Eventually you will make key hires to the marketing team to fill gaps you find.
You will report to the COO and work directly with the founders to translate their vision into a marketing strategy the whole team can execute against. The connective tissue between brand, performance, and creative does not exist right now. You are that layer.
ResponsibilitiesMarketing Strategy & Planning
- Own the marketing strategy - seasonal, campaign-level, and long-term - in close partnership with the COO and founders
- Build and manage the marketing calendar so that all pillars - performance, creative, partnerships, and brand - are aligned and moving together
- Translate big ideas into structured plans: who does what, by when, and how it all fits together
- Own the marketing budget and ensure spend is allocated toward the highest-impact initiatives
Team Leadership
- Directly manage the Growth Manager and the Head of In-House Creative Agency and Partnerships Manager
- Set clear goals and KPIs for each direct report and hold the team accountable to delivering them
- Run the weekly marketing cadence - team syncs, reporting, and cross-functional alignment
- Identify gaps in the team structure and make the case for future hires as the function grows
- Build the systems, processes, and operating rhythm that give the marketing team a foundation to execute at a high level of output
Brand Ownership (Near-Term)
- Own the brand function directly
- Lead campaign ideation in partnership with the creative team - the big ideas that define major brand moments
- Ensure the team maintains 437's brand voice, positioning, and visual consistency across all channels
- Oversee partnerships, gifting, and collaboration strategy in alignment with brand direction
Special Projects & Brand Activations
- Lead the marketing execution of special initiatives - brand trips, pop-ups, events, and community activations
- Work across the marketing team to determine how each pillar can contribute to bringing the initiative to life
- Ensure every activation has a clear marketing strategy and that the team is resourced and aligned to execute it
Performance & Reporting
- Partner with the Growth Manager on paid media strategy, analytics, and performance reporting
- Own marketing's contribution to revenue - report results to the COO and flag risks early
- Use data to make decisions and course-correct when things are not working
Qualifications
- 8+ years in marketing, with experience leading a marketing function or team - ideally at a DTC, fashion, or lifestyle brand
- You have owned campaigns end to end - strategy, calendar, execution, and results
- You are comfortable managing people and being in the work at the same time
- Strong brand instincts and creative point of view - you have taste and know how to communicate it
- Commercial awareness - you understand how marketing activity connects to revenue
- A builder mindset - you are energized by creating structure, not frustrated by the absence of it
- Bonus if you have experience in activewear, wellness, or community-driven brands
