RSM is looking for a Senior Associate to join our assurance Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice. Our TMT practice serves public and private companies, including growth oriented, private equity and venture backed companies. You will work with TMT companies headquartered in the top technology hubs in the country. Audits of technology companies present you with the opportunity to deal with topics as varied and complex as the products and services developed. Segments served include enterprise software, software as a service, e-commerce, electronics and hardware manufacturers, semiconductors, social media, digital media, mobile technology, telecommunications and more.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the auditing of all required financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables

Assess risk along with design and communicate audit procedures to engagement teams

Understand and utilize RSM's Audit Methodology

Manage multiple engagement teams and prepare end-of-engagement evaluations for staff

Understand skillsets and capabilities of Senior Associates and Supervisors and monitor and review work product that they prepare and report on performance while articulating coaching notes throughout the process

Supervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors on engagement teams and function as an in-charge facilitating field work by monitoring and reporting regarding productivity and adherence to work plan schedules on each assignment

Maintain contact with clients throughout the year to understand impact of significant developments in client's business and assess impact on current year audit engagements

Develop others within the Firm through facilitating levels based or industry training, advising on career development or participating in other Firm initiatives

Subscribe to and actively read industry publications and share relevant information with clients as considered applicable

Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise

Understand RSM's lines of businesses, availability of services and where applicable, discuss with client management of opportunities to make valuable introductions to others in the firm

Develop a strategy to utilize relationships external to the firm with different types of Centers of Influence to effectuate business growth

Manage profitability of projects

Identify and communicate accounting and auditing matters to Senior Managers and Partners

Identify performance improvement opportunities

Ensure professional development through ongoing education

Keep abreast of latest developments as they affect GAAP and the Firm's standards and policies

Willingness to travel 25% of the year, depending on your clients

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other discipline from an accredited University.

Active CPA license or demonstrated progress toward CPA licensure in province of residence.

2-3 years of recent assurance experience in a public accounting environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and auditing software tools.

Working knowledge of GAAP, CASs or other relevant regulatory requirements, with the ability to apply relevant accounting and auditing standards, such as IFRS

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills, with the ability to exercise professional judgment.

Experience supporting audit engagements from planning through completion, including performing testing, assisting with financial statement preparation, reviewing workpapers, and mentoring staff.

Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means.

Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality of work in accordance with performance expectations, firm, and client standards.

Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including the ability to sit for extended periods of time and work at a computer and other standard office equipment.

Ability to work extended and/or non standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs.

Ability to maintain consistent, onsite presence during core business hours including the ability to regularly report to a firm office location and travel to client sites as required, including access to reliable transportation.

Occasionally lift or move miscellaneous items (typically under 20 lbs.)

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $58,500 - $94,000

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
