Role Overview:
The Events manager is responsible for planning, delivering, and optimizing CMA's live events and virtual experiences for leading Canadian marketing professionals. This role must be available to attend CMA events in Toronto primarily with the potential of regional events in Canada, and work in a collaborative team environment with a focus on supporting the execution of CMA's events, experiences, and awards. This role also supports the initiatives and priorities of the Vice President, Member Experience, CMA related internal events and provides support to the Member Engagement Team.
This role is to specifically lead, support, and guide event development, execution, and optimization wherever possible.
Key Responsibilities:
Events
- Support virtual and live event planning (including venues, theme, guest experience, audio/video, catering relationships, swag/giveaways, and technical rehearsals) and execution
- Support event registration for all events
- Develop and prepare registration materials pre and post events including post analysis
- On-site event support and management of volunteers
- Work on projects to optimize and evolve current experiences
- Ensure event pages on website are up to date with latest content
- Oversee systems (CRM/EMS), input data and ensure accuracy
- Contribute to programming and content / experience development ideation
- Work with Marketing team on development of all event communications
- Manage all event expense budgets
Awards
- On-site leadership for annual Awards event
- Work closely with Marketing team and external vendors to deliver an optimized and seamless awards experience
- Demonstrate expertise with the Awards Force program and be the contact for entrant inquiries
- Manage and update various reports and documents
- Support the coordination of online Judges and Senior Judges as well as all special/premiere award judging communications and processes
- Manage CMA Awards budget
Marketing & Member Engagement
- Work with Marketing team to identify and develop supporting materials for sponsorship opportunities at events.
- Work with Member Engagement team to coordinate sponsor involvement for all events
- Work with sponsors / speakers to ensure event content is aligned and appropriate
- Review sponsor agreements to ensure all aspects of the event agreements are met
- Ensure speakers and presentation content is collected and posted in a timely and accurate manner
- Monitor competitive marketing and promotional activities to identify new opportunities and best practices in the events, awards and marketing association landscape
- Suggest potential member sponsors by researching or through past experiences/connections
- Follow up on event payments and accounts and working closely with finance and operations as needed.
- Additional administrative and support tasks, as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years work experience in event planning, marketing and/or communications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Events, Marketing, Communications or related field considered an asset
- Familiarity with email marketing and social media platforms an asset
- Availability to attend in-person CMA events is required (local travel flexibility)
- Detail-oriented and consistent, with a professional composure
- Balancing multiple projects and events simultaneously in high-volume workload periods
- Problem solving, conflict resolution and solution-based thinking
- Comfortable juggling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills in leading senior level sponsor/member discussions in a customer service-related manner
- Open to flexible work hours occasionally (evenings/weekend). CMA is supportive of flexible working hours as events can require working in non-traditional M-F 9-5pm time blocks.

Job type: Full time - Maternity Leave Replacement
Start Date: April 13th, 2026
End Date: June 4th, 2027
Annual Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
Annual Vacation Entitlement: Two weeks
Annual Personal Paid Leave: Up to five days eligibility

The position offers a hybrid work model that blends remote work with the necessity for in-person member meetings, networking and CMA events and in-office collaboration. Travel is part of the job networking and attending events.
