POSITION SUMMARY:

Kinsight is seeking a Communications Assistant to join our team for the summer and support the development and execution of our internal and external Communications Plan. The Communications Assistant will participate in communications planning and event coordination, support content creation and print and digital media, and promote the Kinsight Mission and Vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to ongoing content creation for Kinsight's website and employee site
  • Support brand implementation, as defined by Kinsight's Brand Guidelines
  • Curate Kinsight's collection of storytelling media (interviews, photos, and video) for publishing in print and digital formats
  • Assist with designing, writing and editing Kinsight's e-bulletin and other publications such as brochures, invitations and flyers
  • Assist with event planning and day-of logistics, including setup, takedown, and event photography
  • Photography - create a photo bank of Kinsight assets
  • File management - create a repository of communications files/materials
  • Contribute content for social media channels, such as Facebook and Instagram
  • Assist with writing and editing articles

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Certificate or post-secondary courses in Communications or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and social media skills, with a particular focus on plain language writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills, ability to undertake self-directed tasks while working in a team environment.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly with MS Office.
  • Experience with online publishing tools (Wordpress, Constant Contact, Social Media platforms).
  • Courses in graphic design an asset.
  • Experience with design and layout in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of disability issues, community involvement, and/or non-profit organizations an asset.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record check (done at the time of hiring)
  • Union membership
  • Valid BC Driver's License and use of a personal vehicle an asset
  • Availability to work some weekends when events occur

HOURS OF WORK/TERM OF EMPLOYMENT/WAGE:

  • May/June - August 2026
  • 37.5 hours/week - Monday to Friday - 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
  • $21.60/ hour
