Transdev Canada is hiring a Signaling and Communications Technician!
Key Responsibilities
The Signaling and Communications Technician is responsible for the following duties:
- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on wayside signaling and communication equipment in timely manner to ensure the established KPIs are met, and asset integrity is preserved.
- Operate, maintain and perform repairs on all signaling systems including interlocking field elements, signal heads, axle counters, train detection equipment, fibre optic network, broadband wireless communication system, etc. located throughout the guideway and inside various facilities.
- Conduct routine inspections, testing, diagnosing, troubleshooting and calibration of equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation of signaling and train control system.
- Execute wide array of component replacements, upgrades and parameter configurations under established procedures or engineering guidance.
- Perform cable terminations, slicing, and wiring, copper and fibre, using approved methods and tools.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, mechanical and communication faults in field equipment.
- Respond to wayside control and network hardware malfunctions which require knowledge of basic IT, communication and signaling protocols.
- Assist subcontractors and vendors working in the facilities or the field, providing them proper access to the respective work site and assist supervisor in routine audits.
- Assist and support in testing and commissioning activities of central and wayside signaling equipment and systems.
- Document an accurate and detailed work logs in computerized maintenance management application in form of work orders.
- Follow the standard operating procedures, work instructions and inspection forms to complete maintenance activities.
- Ensure all service equipment, general & speciality tools are kept in neat and orderly manner.
- Assist management in safety walks and enforcing productivity concepts such as 5S, Lean and Six sigma, etc.
- Undertake all the trainings as required by Mobilinx and Transdev.
- Conduct other duties as reasonably requested by management.
Skills & Experience
- You have a diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Communications, or related field.
- You have experience with wayside signaling, industrial communication or related field is required.
- Work experience in maintenance in the rail industry including knowledge on communication or electrical concepts
- Trained in Mobile Elevated Work Platform or Working at Heights is an asset.
- Relevant trade license an asset
