We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR & Payroll Specialist. This role plays a key part in both the employee experience and ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Position Overview:
As the HR Generalist, you will manage day-to-day HR operations while supporting full-cycle payroll across provincial lines, primarily in Western Canada. You will work closely with leadership and employees to support a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with employment and payroll legislation in Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process accurate bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll across multiple provinces.
- Ensure compliance with provincial employment standards and CRA regulations.
- Maintain payroll records, benefits deductions, and time tracking.
- Process Records of Employment (ROEs), and year-end reports.
- Collaborate with Wagepoint.
- Manage vacation accruals, statutory holiday pay, and leaves in compliance with provincial standards.
HR Generalist Responsibilities:
- Manage full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, orientation, performance reviews, and offboarding.
- Maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS and payroll systems.
- Administer group benefits and respond to employee inquiries.
- Support workplace health & safety, disability management, and return-to-work programs.
- Assist in policy updates to ensure compliance with provincial employment legislation.
- Foster employee engagement through programs, training initiatives, and communication.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a combined HR and payroll role, preferably in Western Canada.
- Strong understanding of provincial employment standards (especially in AB, BC, SK).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
