About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a senior tax leader to report directly to the CFO and elevate a global tax function from reactive to strategic. You'll set the agenda for worldwide tax planning and governance across a complex, multi-jurisdiction footprint, partnering closely with Finance, Legal, FP&A and Operations. This is a high-visibility role with Audit Committee exposure where you'll modernize processes and technology (e.g., SAP with leading tax engines), reshape the team structure, and reduce reliance on external advisors. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the global tax strategy aligned to business growth, optimizing the company's tax position while ensuring full compliance.
• Oversee worldwide tax operations (Canada, U.S., international), including direct/indirect tax, transfer pricing documentation, and audit management with tax authorities.
• Advise executives on the tax implications of M&A, restructurings, market entry, and cost-sharing arrangements.
• Own consolidated tax reporting and the tax provision under US GAAP and relevant statutory standards; partner with Controllership on financial reporting.
• Forecast and budget cash taxes and effective tax rates in partnership with FP&A.
• Monitor global legislative changes; identify and mitigate tax risk across jurisdictions.
• Champion tax technology and automation (e.g., SAP
• OneSource) to streamline compliance, reporting, and analytics.
• Build and mentor a high-performing team; define a future-state structure (including director-level leadership) and reduce dependence on external firms.
• Represent Tax with external auditors and the Audit Committee; maintain strong internal controls and SOX compliance.

What You Bring

• CPA/CA (or equivalent) with advanced tax training (e.g., CICA In-Depth) and 12+ years in senior global tax leadership within multinational, public-company environments.
• Deep expertise in international tax, transfer pricing, and cross-border structuring; proven experience navigating multi-country footprints.
• Track record leading global teams and building/upgrading org structures; comfortable setting vision and being hands-on where needed.
• Strong command of US GAAP tax accounting and tax provision processes; success partnering with Controllership and FP&A.
• Demonstrated ability to modernize through tax technology/automation (e.g., SAP
• OneSource) and drive process transformation.
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management; experience engaging CEOs/CFOs, external advisors, and Audit Committees.
