The District of Sparwood is currently recruiting for the following summer student positions.

Administrative Assistant

(1 Position)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Administrative support: Assist with filing, organizing and maintaining paper and digital files
• Communication: Assist with supporting website-related tasks, public information brochures and social media posts
• Data Entry: Input and update data
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities / Work Demands

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License or Class 7N Driver's License
• Organized, positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Experience interacting with the public in a respectful and positive manner
• Attention to detail and able to maintain strict confidentiality
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Prior office administration or communication experience is an asset

Salary and Benefits: The current wage is $19.95 is in accordance with the Collective Agreement. In addition, students will receive an Active Living Pass which entitles the employee to full access to all municipal recreation facilities, such as the leisure center pool, arena, weight room, racquet courts, climbing wall, and select programs.

Employment Start Dates: Student position start dates will commence starting May, June and July and into August 2026, subject to student availability.

Eligibility as a Student: To be eligible for student employment at the District, applicants must be between 17 and 26 years of age, enrolled in secondary or post-secondary school at the time of application or be attending an educational institution prior to the summer term and be returning on a full-time basis for the upcoming school term. Unless otherwise specified, eligible student applicants for available summer student positions will be evaluated through an interview process and selected in the following order:

• Group 1: Post-Secondary students whose home address is within postal codes V0B 2G0 through to V0B 2G3.
• Group 2: Post-secondary students eligible to work in Canada.
• Group 3: Secondary students 17 years or older whose home address is within postal codes V0B 2G0 through to V0B 2G3.
• Group 4: Secondary students 17 years or older who are eligible to work in Canada.
