National Marketing Assistant (1 Year Contract - Maternity Leave Coverage)

Maritime Travel is looking for a creative, organized, and motivated full-time National Marketing Assistant to join our Marketing team on a 12-13 month contract supporting a maternity leave. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, social media, and brand communications within the travel industry, while supporting marketing initiatives for more than 90 branch locations across Canada.
This is a hybrid position, with one day per week working from home and the remainder in office downtown Halifax.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the creation, scheduling, and deployment of weekly marketing emails
- Support email design, copy updates, and website landing page creation
- Help manage and update national social media accounts
- Schedule posts, monitor engagement, and respond to comments and messages under guidance
- Manage paid social media advertising, including setup, audience selection, and budget tracking
- Assist with managing and supporting social media teams nationwide
- Use Canva to design social media posts, flyers, and other marketing materials
- Support branch marketing requests such as social posts, email promotions, flyers, and in-branch materials
- Assist with website updates for promotions, escorted tours, and national sales
- Provide general marketing and administrative support to the marketing team as needed
- Support the launch of the new Nordik Spa at Brunello across website and social media platforms
- Attend spring meetings with branch managers in the local region to understand branch marketing tactics
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in marketing, communications or business
- Practical social media experience in a business or professional setting
- Interest in understanding web analytics and performance data
- Creative, detail-oriented, and ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
