The organization manages key community-focused initiatives, including the Investment Portfolio, Hope Cascade & Canyons Tourism Region, various lifestyle initiatives, and the Hope, Cascades & Canyons Visitor Centre. Event Marketing Specialist - Canada Summer Jobs

  • Term Position: June 22, 2026, to August 29, 2026
  • Hours of Work: Standards hours of work will be Monday - Friday between 9am and 5pm.
  • Shifts may vary based on operational needs and will include evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
  • 30 hours/week
Hourly Wage: $18.25/hour

Position Overview

The Event Marketing Specialist will support tourism promotion and economic development initiatives throughout the region. This role focuses heavily on working directly with businesses, helping with events, and supporting marketing projects that promote the area's attractions, services, and business opportunities.

The student will contribute to marketing campaigns, assist with community outreach, develop itineraries and blog content, and help strengthen the connection between the organization and local business owners.

Key Responsibilities

Community & Business Engagement

  • Visit business owners across the region to gather feedback, updates, and success stories.
  • Assist in collecting business listings, updated hours, new services, and local stories for marketing purposes.
  • Support business outreach for events, surveys, and regional initiatives.
  • Help maintain up-to-date contact lists, business profiles, and tourism partner information.

Marketing & Promotion

  • Write blogs, articles, and short business features highlighting local entrepreneurs and visitor experiences.
  • Create travel itineraries (e.g., outdoor adventure, family-friendly, food & drink, cultural trips).
  • Develop simple posters, brochures, and promotional materials using Canva or similar tools.
  • Support development of marketing campaigns for local events, tourism initiatives, and community programs.
  • Assist with distributing posters and marketing materials across communities.

Event Support

  • Help plan, coordinate, and execute community events and tourism activations.
  • Assist with set-up, volunteer support, sponsor coordination, and on-site logistics.
  • Collect photos, quotes, and stories during events for future marketing content.
  • Gather follow-up feedback from attendees and businesses after events.

Digital & Website Support

  • Update website pages (business directory, events calendar, itineraries, tourism pages).
  • Upload blogs, photos, event information, and business features.
  • Help identify outdated or missing content and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with managing email newsletters (drafting short updates, adding links, selecting photos).

Research & Data Collection

  • Gather information on tourism trends, business challenges, and visitor experiences.
  • Support surveys, interviews, or business walks to collect local insights.
  • Assist in tracking marketing performance and visitor engagement where possible.

Additional Contributions (Optional, Depending on Skills)

  • Assist in organizing small business workshops (marketing basics, social media tips).
  • Help create themed campaigns such as "Meet the Makers," "Shop Local," or "Explore the Fraser Canyon."
  • Support mapping projects (trails, attractions, shops), gathering accurate data and photos.
  • Identify marketing opportunities, partnerships, and regional stories worth highlighting.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills; comfortable producing blogs, short features, and itineraries.
  • Confident communicator who enjoys meeting people and asking questions.
  • Experience with simple design tools (Canva, Adobe Express) considered an asset.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to travel throughout the region.
  • Interest in tourism, small business, and community development.
  • Valid driving licence and reliable transportation
