About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented and relationship-driven Intermediate Farm Underwriter (Level II) to join our underwriting team. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting new and existing farm business, including endorsements and renewals, while ensuring compliance with company underwriting guidelines and authority levels.

Key Responsibilities
Endorsements & New Business (40%)
- Process endorsements within a 5-day turnaround time
- Accurately enter and maintain policy data in internal systems
- Review declarations and supporting documentation for accuracy
- Assess risk by reviewing claims history, inspections, photos, and applications
- Communicate recommendations and follow up with brokers
- Complete full farm policy data entry (property, equipment, livestock, liability, etc.)
- Order and coordinate inspections for new and renewal business
- Maintain organized digital documentation (Cognition+ or equivalent systems)
Renewals (40%)
- Run and review weekly renewal batches
- Identify and resolve underwriting "stops" (e.g., claims or risk concerns)
- Order inspections and make underwriting adjustments as needed
Additional Duties (20%)
- Respond to broker inquiries via phone and email
- Prepare certificates of insurance and underwriting correspondence
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships
- Review inspections and communicate risk concerns and recommendations
- Participate in meetings, training, and industry events
- Support data accuracy and daily system error corrections
- Occasionally accompany inspectors on large farm risk assessments
What You Bring
Education & Credentials
- College diploma or university degree
- CIP designation (completed or near completion)
- Assets: FCIP, CRM
Experience
- 3-5 years of farm underwriting experience
- Experience in property, auto, or farm insurance within a mutual environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of farm operations and farm insurance products
- Knowledge of underwriting principles, wordings, and rate manuals
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective time management and organizational abilities
- Customer-focused with a proactive, "can-do" attitude
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency with standard office and insurance systems
Hybrid Work Model
- First 3 months: In-office for onboarding and training
- After probation: Hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
