Position Summary

The Communications Assistant / Mentee is an entry-level position that provides administrative and operational support to the Communications team while gaining hands-on experience in communications and engagement experience. This role supports day-to-day departmental activities and assists with communications projects, and administrative tasks.

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide general administrative support to the Communications team.

Assist the Communications and Admin Assistant in the development and printing of communications materials.

Monitor the department email inbox and direct inquiries as appropriate.

Track and report cheque requisitions and assist with basic financial record keeping.

Assist with filing, data entry, scheduling, and document preparation.

Provide support to staff with communications projects, meetings, and community events.

Assist with gathering data and developing report metrics.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

High school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of Musqueam community and culture is an asset.

Organizational and communication skills considered an asset.

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and willingness to learn other programs as needed (Canva, PowerPoint, Capcut).

Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Criminal Record Check required.

Working Conditions

Office-based position with occasional support at community events.

Lifting of up to 15kg may be required.
