For over 40 years, Scanway has been a cornerstone of the Atlantic Canadian culinary scene. From operating premier food halls like Bells Lane Kitchen to managing exclusive catering at iconic landmarks like Citadel Hill, we specialize in the intersection of high-end hospitality and innovative food production. We aren't just a catering company; we are experienced architects for some of the region's most significant events and daily food solutions. We specialize in global flavours with a local twist.
The Role
We are looking for a sophisticated, high-energy Sales & Catering Manager to drive our event business forward. You will be the primary point of contact for corporate clients, wedding parties, and major event organizers. This role requires a unique blend of "hunter" sales instinct and meticulous event planning.
You will be responsible for translating a client's vision into a flawlessly executed reality, ensuring our reputation for culinary excellence is upheld at every function.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Proactively identify and secure new catering contracts, proposals and event bookings through networking, lead generation, and relationship management.
- Account Management: Act as the dedicated consultant for our portfolio of corporate and institutional clients, ensuring long-term retention.
- Event Design & Planning: Work alongside our culinary team to create custom, modern Atlantic Canadian menus and detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- On-Site Leadership: Oversee the execution of major activations to ensure service standards meet the Scanway benchmark.
- Contracting & Logistics: Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of an event, from initial inquiry and site tours to contract signing and final billing.
What You Bring
- Experience: 3-5+ years in hospitality sales, catering management, or high-end event planning.
- Local Knowledge: A strong understanding of the Halifax business landscape and a network of local corporate contacts.
- Operational Grit: Experience managing high-volume events (500+ guests) and an ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Culinary Literacy: A passion for food and wine; WSET certification or a deep understanding of wine pairing is considered a significant asset.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You are as comfortable pitching to a CEO as you are coordinating with a kitchen team.

- A collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where your input directly shapes the growth of the company.
- Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
- You'll always be surrounded by great food!
