About You & role:

The Crump Group is seeking a Senior Manager, External Communications & Corporate Affairs with experience across all areas of public affairs and communications. This role will be responsible for developing new external communication strategies across North America, fostering a strong corporate reputation, and leading consumer & corporate affairs to drive measurable business results.

Tell our stories, making a meaningful impact in our brand communities and product education by being the primary communications partner for Strategy & Sustainability, Customer Service, Marketing, R&D, and Sales teams. Lead purpose-driven initiatives that highlight our commitment to improving the wellbeing of our pets and our planet.

Core Competencies:

  • Strategic Communications & Narrative Shaping- Ability to translate business strategy into clear, compelling messaging that drives brand positioning and aligns internal and external communications.
  • Reputation & Crisis Management-Skilled in managing brand reputation, handling sensitive issues, and making informed decisions to mitigate risk and de-escalate challenges.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement-Proven ability to collaborate with senior leaders and multiple teams (marketing, sales, customer service, etc.) to deliver cohesive communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate communications and public relations plan with quarterly roadmaps
  • Lead reputation management efforts to raise the profile of the corporate brand to attract top talent and client partners and assert The Crump Group as a leading industry voice. This includes developing brand advocates, strengthening corporate brand presence online, and proactive media relations and public-facing opportunities.
  • Lead issue and crisis management with strong risk mitigation plans and de-escalations, serving as strategic counsel across customer service, quality, and the leadership team
  • Create a pet education & thought leadership library for use with retailers and consumers, by partnering with our copywriter & creative, pet nutritionists, brand, and sales strategy teams
  • Measure impact using quantitative and qualitative reporting, evaluating both message clarity and audience engagement
  • Monitor and report on media coverage, share of voice and brand sentiment
  • Run community outreach programs grounded in our sustainability agenda and manage memberships & associations
  • Collaborate closely with in-house marketing and creative teams to ensure strategic alignment between PR, digital marketing, and social media
  • Champion consistent use company-wide of brand identity, voice, assets, and standards
  • Define key messaging from our brand plans and positioning, working with Creative and Brand team to articulate and execute
  • Shape sell story arcs and provide key messages to the Sales Strategy and Sales teams to support their retailer pitch construction

Recipe For Success:

  • 10+ years of experience across strategic communications, reputation management, and crisis management for both companies and brands
  • Brand acumen: able to distil brand positioning and strategies into key messaging -?the what'
  • Exceptional storytelling: experience creating engaging educational content; can craft inspirational or playful content with high degree of creativity that delivers precise, technical information
  • Experience partnering with agencies, freelancers, or contractors
  • Strong understanding of social media management tools, analytics, and success measurement
  • CPG household brands a nice to have

Extra Ingredients:

  • Experience in agency strategy roles or corporate communications within large CPG companies
  • Experience working in highly regulated or reputation-sensitive industries
  • Familiarity with sustainability or purpose-driven brand communications
  • Experience managing memberships, associations, or industry groups
  • Exposure to media training or spokesperson preparation
  • Experience with employer branding or talent attraction campaigns
  • Strong cross-border (North America) communications experience
  • Ability to work in remote or distributed team environments
