Director of Communications & Marketing

King David High School is a leading Jewish independent school committed to academic excellence, Jewish values, and community engagement. We are seeking a creative, strategic, and highly organized Director of Communications and Marketing to lead and elevate the school's communications, branding, and digital presence. This is a senior leadership role with a strong focus on social media strategy, digital marketing, and storytelling, working closely with the Head of School and senior leadership team.

80% Position - 4 days a week

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications & Brand Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy aligned with King David's mission, values, and strategic priorities
  • Ensure consistent, compelling, and professional messaging across all platforms
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on communications, reputation management, and brand positioning
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders-faculty, staff, and board members-and external stakeholders-parents, alumni, donors, and community partners-to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging.

Social Media & Digital Marketing

  • Lead strategy, content creation, and execution for all social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and emerging channels)
  • Create compelling digital content including posts, reels, stories, videos, and campaigns that highlight student life, academics, Jewish life, and community
  • Monitor analytics, engagement, and performance, adjusting strategies to maximize reach and impact
  • Oversee digital advertising campaigns, including admissions-focused marketing, fundraising initiatives, and community outreach
  • Stay current on digital trends, tools, and best practices to keep King David's online presence fresh and effective

Website & Digital Platforms

  • Manage the school website, ensuring content accuracy, usability, and alignment with admissions, community, and development objectives.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders on website initiatives, email campaigns, and digital integrations.
  • Ensure all digital platforms maintain a professional and user-friendly experience.

Content Creation & Media Relations

  • Oversee creation of newsletters, emails, publications, and promotional materials, as well as internal publications such as policy manuals and handbooks
  • Manage media relations, including press releases and external communications
  • Ensure thoughtful, timely communication during sensitive or high-profile situations
  • Produce graphics, photo, and video content

Admissions, Development, & Community Engagement

  • Partner closely with Admissions and Development teams to support enrollment, fundraising, and community engagement through strategic storytelling
  • Promote school events, open houses, and other community initiatives.
  • Strengthen engagement with current families, alumni, and the broader Jewish community

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education and 3+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or digital media leadership (experience in education or nonprofit sectors is an asset)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in social media strategy, digital marketing, and content creation
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and copywriting skills
  • Experience with analytics tools, content management systems, and digital advertising platforms
  • Highly organized, creative, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with video production, photography, and graphic design is highly desirable
