Public Relations Coordinator

Position Purpose

The Public Relations Coordinator will be part of a growing team at the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA). This role will be accountable for various duties, including developing, implementing, and evaluating communication plans. This role will leverage your outstanding organizational, communications, and collaboration skills, enhanced by your evidence-based research and project management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across departments and subject matter experts to develop, implement and evaluate communication plans to meet ACSA goals and objectives and produce internal and external communications materials as required.
  • Draft and edit engaging copy for various communication channels, including website, digital advertising, social media, traditional media, and more.
  • Support the development of communications tools (both online and offline), key messages and media/public relations plans and/or activities.
  • Use and leverage emerging digital technologies and social media platforms to enhance ACSA's online presence.
  • Engage in media relations, preparing materials to effectively communicate ACSA's initiatives and achievements.
  • Measure and evaluate communication strategies and tactics and share results, recommendations, and lessons learned with internal clients.
  • Ensure adherence to branding guidelines, representing your ACSA's brand consistently and professionally, while demonstrating integrity, honesty and respect in all interactions.
  • Stay informed with the latest news, tools and industry trends, supporting ACSA and the team in remaining informed.
  • Attend assigned industry events, reporting on the outcomes and observations of partnership activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, and/or certificate in Communications, Public Relations, or related field.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of related experience in communications. Experience in a business setting is considered an asset.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital communication platforms.
  • Experience developing, executing, and evaluating successful communication plans and campaigns.
  • Experience in writing and editing for digital and traditional platforms in ways that resonate with audiences.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • The ability to apply business knowledge and logic, be politically sensitive, collaborate with multiple partners, and respond to various conflicting priorities is a must.
  • Effectively collaborates with various stakeholders within ACSA, leveraging communication and cooperation to drive positive outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently as a strong and contributing member in a team environment.
  • Excels at creative thinking and problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail.

Logistics

  • This position requires a 40-hour work week.
  • This role is eligible for a hybrid work model (ACSA Edmonton office) three months after the start date.
  • Some travel, evening, and weekend work will be required based on business events such as conferences and workshops.
  • This role reports to the Manager of Corporate Communications.

Salary: $73,964
