Jean-Pierre Lauzier, advisor and sales consultant, regularly gives tips on personal and professional growth. Today, he tackles the relationship between success and courage.
Most people know what to do to succeed, even if only unconsciously. Success is an universal value to which a lot of people aspire.
Historically, authors have written thousands of publications and books about it. But success doesn’t come alone. It is demanding and rigorous : it requires work, determination and courage.
Nowadays, at a time where communications and news are ubiquitous in our everyday lives, we can no longer justify inaction through “not-knowing” or lack of knowledge. Now more than ever, it is not a question of « how » but a question of « why ».
Ask yourself first why you want to succeed : this, in itself, already takes courage.
But what even is courage? It’s the firmness of the heart and fortitude when faced with danger, pain or setbacks. Courage is an intrinsic quality, essential to success. It is a free source that asks only to grow inside ourselves.
COURAGE, is to force ourselves to act, to engage
COURAGE, is persisting, never quitting
COURAGE, is getting back up after a failure
COURAGE, is being indifferent to nay-sayers
COURAGE, is letting our inside calling guide us, what our American peers call Burning Desire, that flame that pushes us further.
People tend to believe that some become successful thanks to luck alone. It may be true of certain people, but it is far from being a rule.
Most of the men and women who experience success are brave people who didn’t let their fears stop them.
Furthermore, several studies have clearly shown that a vast majority of successful people have done so thanks to their work, their determination… and their courage.
We all have been, one day or another, faced with difficult, unexpected situations that unsettled us and made us confront our fears.
It is true for artists before they get on stage, true for parents who see their child get hurt in front of their eyes. Yet, this extraordinary interior force takes over and allows us to confront and act on our fears.
If you can’t bear your current situation’s nuisances or sufferings anymore, or if your priority is to follow your dreams and desires, then you have what it takes to grow your courage in your garden of success – which only wants to blossom.
You have to believe in your ability to achieve great things.
Human beings have access to incredible ressources. When put in a difficult or distressing situation, they often find their ressourcessfulness.
But human beings need to use their COURAGE to discover these ressources, to trust themselves, to face danger, to dive into the uncertainty and to learn to know themselves.
Decide to push your limits every day, to move into new and unfamiliar territories and to believe anything is possible. This will be your first brave move, for a brighter tomorrow.
Good luck!
